ANTIETAM

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Bill McClain and Tony DiSarro, 1st season

2023 Review: (1-6, 2-14)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Dominic Perch (Honorable Mention)

Others to Watch: 

Coach’s Outlook: Looking to continue to grow the program. Hoping to show improvement from top to bottom as the season progresses.


BERKS CATHOLIC

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Lauren Urban, 8th season

2023 Review: (5-2, 6-5)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: 

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Alex Avram (All-Division), Jack Krajsa (Honorable Mention)

Others to Watch: David Schnatz, Lukas Arbuckle

Coach’s Outlook: Berks Catholic returns three key players and adds some young talent to the lineup. The boys hope to compete for a spot in the county team playoffs.


BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Bryan Rothermel, 6th season

2023 Review: (2-5, 2-11)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: Nate Burger (All-County)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Nick Winkler, Josh Miller, Jake Herman Ben Heffner

Coach’s Outlook: This will be a challenging season with a low turnout of players. We are looking to rebuild the program for future years and also help high school athletes develop a lifetime passion for tennis.


CONRAD WEISER

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Ryan Knarr, 9th season

2023 Review: (8-0, 21-3) Division 1 Champion, BCIAA Runner-Up, District III 2A Runner-Up, PIAA 2A Semifinalist

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: Colin Clabaugh (All-Division)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Armaan Malik (All-County), Jio Garcia (All-County), Eric Yazembowski (Honorable Mention)

Others to Watch: Charles Coleman, Owen Hunt, John Tharp, Ty McGonigle, Wyatt Auchenbach

Coach’s Outlook: We are excited to return the core group from our county final, district final and state semifinal team from 2023 along with some talented freshmen that will be able to step up and contribute immediately. The 2024 team, with only 1 senior, is focused and controlling the things that we can control within the process-oriented culture and understanding that the season is a marathon and not a sprint. We look forward to approaching the marquee matches of the season with a burn the boats mentality with the expectation to again compete for a county, district, and state championship.


DANIEL BOONE

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Ryan Burke, 5th season

2023 Review: (5-3, 10-5)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Sam Shank (All-County), Evan Miller (All-Division)

Others to Watch: 

Coach’s Outlook: This team wants to be the first in school history to make it to the team playoffs coming close the past two years.


EXETER

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Michael Herman, 11th season

2023 Review: (6-2, 11-6)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: Teddy Snyder (Player-of-the-Year), Jake Tryanski (Honorable Mention)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Donghu Kim

Coach’s Outlook: Our team is made up of some great kids and great competitors. We are a young team with a lot of new faces. We look forward to having a competitive team this year.


FLEETWOOD

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Katie Miller, 1st season

2023 Review: (3-5, 6-7)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Alex Emery, Ben Sekella, Colin Border, Joshua Preletz, Lane Geiger, Tony Zhang

Coach’s Outlook: Last year the boys’ team was stacked with seniors so these boys did not see much playing time in the top 6. They are back, working hard and ready for a season of growth and development. We are looking forward to a fun season and an opportunity to impact these boys, so they play their entire high school career.


GOVERNOR MIFFLIN

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Darren Kostival, 10th season

2023 Review: (0-8, 2-13)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Tiberiu Danciu, Mason Shultz, Jack Bortz

Coach’s Outlook: We are a very young team in age and experience. Main goal is to learn the sport properly and be a better team by the end of the season.


HAMBURG

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Leon “Bud” Bucheit, 16th season

2023 Review: (4-3, 6-6)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Joe Martin, Tavian Parry, Alex Bentz, Caleb Atkinson, Logan Rollman, Matthew Curtis, Will Havens, Caleb Weist, Connor Moyer, Kyle Houck, Brayden Heckman, Seth Bausher

Coach’s Outlook: The 2024 season looks promising. We have a lot of good players. Just waiting to see where they fall in the lineup. I am very optimistic about this season.


KUTZTOWN

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Louann Reppert, 8th season

2023 Review: (6-1, 10-3) Division 2 Runner-Up, District III 2A Quarterfinalist

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: Blake Nolte (All-Division), Otis Engle (All-Division)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: 

Others to Watch: 

Coach’s Outlook: We graduated all five starters from last year’s district team. Promising young group of players this year made up of mostly underclassmen. Hoping for a winning season but looking to gain experience.


MUHLENBERG

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Steve Simons, 25th season

2023 Review: (1-7, 3-9)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Manny Peralta

Coach’s Outlook: We are looking to rebuild this season after losing our top 3 to graduation and 5 of our top 7.


READING

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Michael Fisher, 4th season

2023 Review: (4-4, 4-7)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: JoJo Rodriguez (All-Division)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Zach Schrader (All-County)

Others to Watch: Dylan Dunkleberger, Gael Prado, Jeyvian Morales, Jose Diaz, Xavier Gonzalez

Coach’s Outlook: With the key players returning from last year, the Red Knights are looking to compete for a spot in the Berks team playoffs.


SCHUYLKILL VALLEY

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Brian Miller, 10th season

2023 Review: (0-7, 0-12)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Tristan Waruszewski, Oliver Messner, Casey Raifsnider, Emmanuel Torres

Coach’s Outlook: Build a bigger team while teaching the guys a sport they can play their entire life.


TULPEHOCKEN

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Mike Boltz, 4th season

2023 Review: (3-4, 4-8)

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: none

Others to Watch: Aaron Baransky, Clint Haws

Coach’s Outlook: Tulpehocken boys’ tennis is looking forward to another great year. We return three starters. We also have three new members who have played often on their own. I am looking forward to great things from them. 


TWIN VALLEY

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Joe Alessandrini, 9th season

2023 Review: (2-6, 4-9)

Coach’s Outlook: An energized, confident and athletic team looking to win matches.


WILSON

Classification: Berks 1, PIAA 3A

Head Coach: Todd Gensemer, 4th season

2023 Review: (7-1, 13-4) Division 1 Runner-Up, BCIAA Champion, District III 3A Quarterfinalist

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: Ben Winkler (All-County), Phil Bornais (Honorable Mention)

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Austin Kohler (All-Division)

Others to Watch: Gavin Siravo, Ethan Mengel, Jason Kaufmann

Coach’s Outlook: We have a very strong team this year. There are 3 seniors who have been in 3 county finals, and 1 other who has worked his way into the top 7. Hope to again contend for another county title.


WYOMISSING

Classification: Berks 2, PIAA 2A

Head Coach: Mike Gyomber, 34th season

2023 Review: (7-0, 10-2) Division 2 Champion, District III 2A Quarterfinalist

BCIAA All-Stars Lost: none

BCIAA All-Stars Returning: Truman Peters (All-Division), Aaron Andrews (Honorable Mention), Noah Gibney (Honorable Mention)

Others to Watch: Kyren McCabe, Max Weiss

Coach’s Outlook: We will rely on returning players to compete for post season team competitions. We have a number of new players to help fill out our lineups.
